Services for Billy Wayne Howell will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, August 28, 2020, from Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church with Rev. Randy Caldwell and Rev. Joe Kitchens officiating. Visitation will be from 2:30 until time of service. McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Howell, 75, of DeKalb, died Monday, August 24, 2020, at his home. He was a longtime resident of the Damascus Community in Kemper County. He was a retired carpenter and worked in maintenance for Kemper County School System. Mr. Howell was a Christian man and a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church. Survivors include daughter, Shelia Mattar (Michael) of Philadelphia; two grandchildren, Fallon Goings (Steve) of Conehatta, Dean Mattar (Bailey) of Meridian; seven great-grandchildren, Allison, Madison, Marley, Eli, Shelby, Kaeson and Jenley; two sisters, Marie Eaves and Peggy Williams (Don); brother, Ed Howell (Jane). Mr. Howell was preceded in death by his wife, Diane; one great-grandchild, Kamryn; parents, Rev. James E. Howell, Sr., and Katherine Howell; and brother-in-law, David Eaves. Pallbearers are Jim Eaves, Rickey Ishie, Ryan Ishie, Henry Eldridge, Jacob Williams, and Michael Miller. Honorary pallbearer is Jerry George.
