Services for Mrs. Betty Williamson Maxey will be held Thursday, April 10, 2025 at 2:00 pm at McClain- Hays Chapel. Interment will be held in Wheatfield Congregational Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Mitchell Graham officiating. Visitation will be held 5:00-8:00 pm on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at McClain-Hays Funeral Service.
Beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. Mrs. Betty leaves a legacy of love and kindness toward everyone she met. She was born and raised in the Dixon Community and made her home there after her marriage.
She worked as a factory worker and store clerk for many years. She stopped working outside her home to keep her grandsons and other neighbor children, who still call her nanny. She completed her work career at Easom Hardware in Sebastopol, where she worked until her late 70's.
Betty was a lifelong member of Pine Grove Church of God at Dixon where she served as a Sunday school teacher and youth leader, as well as, serving on many committees. She adored her family and loved cooking for them. She would cook for 15 to 20 almost every Sunday after church. This included friends of the children and grandchildren and friends from church.
She is preceded in death by her parents, A.D. (Darris) and Thyra Ballinger Williamson and her husband of 69 years, Hardy Maxey.
She is survived by her son, Thomas Hardy Maxey Jr.(Mechelle), and her daughter, Freda Stuart, six grandchildren, Bryant, Curt (Melanie), Lindsey, Madison, Courtney (Michael) and Ryan (Becca), 13 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.
Pallbearers who are honored to carry her to her final resting place are Michael Stepp, Jess Bell, Jerry Bell, Dustyn Smith, Johnny Page, and Chandler Young.
