Betty J. Mowdy Partridge

July 21, 1934 — January 26, 2025

Funeral services for Betty J. Mowdy Partridge will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 2 p.m. from McClain Hays Chapel with Bro. Kelly Tingle officiating. Interment will follow in Golden Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025 from 12 noon until service time at  McClain-Hays Funeral Service.

Betty Partridge, 90, of Philadelphia, MS passed into the arms of Jesus on January 26, 2025 in Byhalia, MS at Great Oaks Rehab and Health Care.

Betty was born on July 21, 1934 in Bethsaida Community of Neshoba County at home to Joe and Mary Mowdy. She graduated from House High School in 1950. She married Paul Partridge on June 8, 1950 and moved to England where her husband was stationed in the Air Force. They later moved to Mobile, Alabama in 1956 and remained eleven years and moved to Southaven, MS. Their final move was to Philadelphia, MS where they retired in 1986. Paul preceded her in death on August 11, 2019.

Betty was a member of Enon Baptist Church and active as the piano player for many years. She played in Revivals and Hymn singings or for special music. She enjoyed working at election polls and greeting voters. She was a seamstress who made most of her clothes and her children’s clothes when they were growing up. Betty spent hours in the kitchen day and night baking pies and cakes, canning home grown vegetables and packing homegrown blueberries. She also loved to grow plants and save seed from flowers to replant. Betty was always happy and smiling and always ready to serve and help others. She loved her family gatherings and spending time with them.

Betty is survived by her daughters, Patty Rushing of Byram, MS, Cindy Forsythe (Marty) of Southaven, MS, a son Randy Partridge of Union, MS, seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren and one more coming in March, a sister, Geraldine Watson of Philadelphia, MS and a brother-in-law Parks Partridge (Jeanette) of Huntsville, AL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son in law Billy Rushing, a grandchild Amanda Rushing, sister Laree Mannino, brother in laws Nick Mannino and Austin Watson and a nephew Neil Partridge. She also leaves behind nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Pallbearers are Austin Marshall, Joe Partridge, Brian Pinter, Dustin Pinter, Senett Pinter, Mark Rickles, Nathan Roberson, Doug Sanders, and James Thompson.
