Bernice Eldridge Benson

Services for Bernice Eldridge Benson will be held Saturday, August 11, 2018, at 11 a.m. from Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Father Augustine Palimattam officiating.   Visitation will be held Friday, August, 10, 2018, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Home.  Interment will be in Memory Gardens of Hobbs, New Mexico. Mrs. Benson, 92, of Union, died Tuesday, August 7, 2018, at Neshoba County Nursing Home in Philadelphia, MS. She was a native and longtime resident of Neshoba County and former resident of Hobbs, New Mexico for twenty years.  Mrs. Benson attended Holy Rosary Catholic Church.  Survivors include sons, Gary Benson of Gulfport, MS, Bob Benson (Lynn) of Philadelphia, MS, and Ken Benson (Gail) of Los Angeles, CA; sister, Shelby Alford of Pearl, MS; brother, Arvis Eldridge (Effie) of Philadelphia, MS; daughters-in-law, Robin Benson and Frances Benson; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and their families. Mrs. Benson was preceded in death by husband, Thomas Lamar Benson; son, Brantley Eugene Benson; parents, Jessie and Maggie Eldridge; sisters, Verna Mae Hitt, Mavis Creighton and Ernaree Stewart; and brother, Earnest Eldridge.Pallbearers are Tommy Holland, Jason Holland, Nathan Benson, Eric Benson, Joe Fuller and Patrick Gray.  Honorary pallbearers are Sam Knight and Jakob Knight. In lieu of flowers family requests memorials be made to American Hearing Research Foundation,Holy Rosary Catholic Church, or a favorite charity.
