Funeral services for Ben E. Wolfe, Jr. (Benny) will be held Friday, November 17, 2023 at 11 a.m. from McClain-Hays Chapel with Rev. Richard Burks and Rev. Odell Hopkins officiating. Burial will follow at Good Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, November 16, 2023 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. from McClain-Hays Funeral Home. Mr. Wolfe, 75, of Union, MS died Saturday, November 11, 2023. Benny was born and raised in Lauderdale County, MS. He graduated from Meridian High School the Class of 1966 and attended MJC. He started working for the City of Meridian and eventually retired as the Public Works Director in 2000. Benny later moved to Pascagoula where he served as the Public Works Director for 3 years and then to Jackson where he also served as the Public Works Director. Later he moved to Gulfport where he to work with PBS & J and finally Public Works Director in Gulfport. In 2010 he started Wolfe Consulting and worked until his passing. He served on the Board of Directors at Meridian Mutual Federal Credit Union and was a member of APWA where he later became Regional President. He refereed high school basketball and football for 25 years and was a junior college referee for 15 years. He loved to hunt, fish, golf and spend time with his wife, take vacations, and spend time with his kids, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. Wolfe was a former member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church of Meridian and First Baptist Church of Gulfport and was a present member of Good Hope Baptist Church in Philadelphia. Survivors include wife, Teresa Wolfe of Philadelphia; daughters, Cassie Wolfe Lee of Meridian, Kelli Wolfe Lungrin (Charles) of Brookhaven and Latisha Davis of Philadelphia; sons, Kevin Wolfe (Krystal) of Seminary and Nathan Wolfe of Meridian; grandchildren, Taylor Lee, Lance and Parker Lungrin, Breleigh Kate Wolfe, Emilee Bryan (Bill), Karley and Kruze Clark, Kaylee Chunn, Mallory Halfacre (Hagan) and Ryker Davis; great-grandchildren, Addi Lee, Vincent Upton and Colter Bryan; brother, John Wolfe (Barbara) of Terry; sister Brenda Burt of Tupelo; several nieces, nephews and their families. Mr. Wolfe was preceded in death by parents, Edgar and Evelyn Wolfe; son, Randy Clark.
