A memorial service for Babs Kirkland will be held Wednesday, August 1, 2018, at 11 a.m. from First United Methodist Church in Philadelphia with Rev. Chris Young officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 9 a.m. until time of service at the church. Babs Kirkland, 79, of Philadelphia, died Thursday , July 26, 2018, at her home. A native of the Coldwater Community of Neshoba County, she spent most of her life in Philadelphia. She worked as an office manager at Mike Tinsley Reality for many years. Mrs. Kirkland was an active member of First United Methodist Church where she was involved in the Adult Sunday school class and served on various committees over the years. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Babs enjoyed playing Bridge and spending time with the “Tea Party Girls”, her Thursday lunch group, and her Bible study group. Survivors include daughters, Amy Kirkland Johnston of Philadelphia, MS; Sally Kirkland Clark (Jeff) of Madison, MS; Jill Kirkland Daniel (Shelby) of Athens, AL; grandchildren; Todd Clark (Molly) of Madison, MS; Emma Clark of Nashville, TN.; Kip Clark of Birmingham, AL; Clay Johnston of Jackson ,MS; Mason and Sam Daniel , both of Athens ,AL.; great-grandchildren, Mary Logan, Rosey Kate and Trace Clark, all of Madison, MS; brothers-in-law, Fred Kirkland and Charlie Hardy; sisters-in-law, Nancy Hardy (Allen), Tommie Banks and Janet Banks; a host of nieces and nephews and their families; and longtime special family friends: Mike and Tracy Tinsley and their family. Mrs. Kirkland was preceded in death by husband, Wayne Kirkland; parents, Uriah and Mary Emma Banks; brothers, Charles Banks and W.H. “Duck” Banks; and sisters-in-law, Juanice Hardy, Bernice Kirkland and Tommie Lynn Kirkland.
