Services for Arvis Eldridge will be held Thursday, October 10, 2019, at 3:00 p.m. from McClain-Hays Chapel with Rev. Len Wedgeworth officiating. Burial will follow in Golden Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday from 1 p. m. until time of service at McClain-Hays Funeral Home. McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Arvis Eldridge passed away at the age of 88 on the evening of October 6, 2019, in Neshoba County, Mississippi. He was born in Neshoba County, MS, on May 21, 1931, the son of Jesse and Maggie Eldridge. Mr. Eldridge was a lifetime Mississippi resident, a logging contractor, and a registered forester. He was a two time Neshoba County Tree Farmer of the Year, and was on the Board of Directors of the Neshoba County Forestry Association in 2009. He attended Crossroads Baptist Church. Mr. Eldridge is survived by his wife of 66 years, Effie Kilpatrick Eldridge of Neshoba County, MS; his children, Amy Helen Nixon of Evergreen, CO; Robert Eugene Eldridge of Philadelphia, MS; Renee’ Eldridge Proctor (Thomas) of Trenton, TN; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Shelby Alford of Pearl, MS; numerous nieces, nephews, and their families. Pallbearers are Norman Eldridge, Reese Eldridge, Jessen Fahey, Jeff Henderson, Garrett Posey, Peyton Posey, Mark Rickles, and Doug Smith. Honorary pallbearers are Tommy Belk, Billy Butler, Willis Herrington, and James Smith.
