Funeral service for Arthur Eakes will be held Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at 3 p.m. from McClain-Hays Chapel with Rev. Bert Jones officiating. Burial will follow in McClain Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at 12 noon until service time at McClain-Hays Funeral Home. McClain –Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Eakes, 73, of Philadelphia, died Saturday, September 18, 2021. He was a native of Neshoba County and attended Neshoba Central and had served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He retired from Weyerhaeuser in 2015 after 43 years. Mr. Eakes was a member of McClain Chapel Pentecostal Church. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Ruth Withers Eakes; son, Arthur Chester “Chet” Eakes (Heidi); step-son, Andrew Joseph Givens, Jr. (Jody); adopted daughter, Ashley Renee Barrier (Ike); grandchildren, Courtney Mechelle Eakes, Ryan Clayton Eakes, Tyler Matthew Eakes and Reagan Miles; step-grandchildren, Amanda Brake (Brandon), Andrew Joseph Givens III, Bethany Redash (James), Michael Bematre, Brianna Goins (John) and Marissa Huthsteiner (David); sister, Mary Posey; several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and their families. Preceded in death by parents, Chester and Magaline Eakes; son, Robert Ashley Eakes; brother, Johnny Mac Eakes; sister, Linda Sue Knight. Pallbearers are Shannon Eakes Jason Eakes, John Eakes, Marcus Knight, Ike Barrier and Michael Stepp.
