Services for Anthony Mims will be held Saturday, July 31, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. from McClain-Hays Chapel with Bro. Nathan Moore, Bro. Johnny Peden and Bro. Sam Fulton officiating. Burial will follow in the Cedarlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday from 11:30 until time of service at McClain-Hays Funeral Home. Mr. Mims, 60, of Philadelphia, died Monday, July 26, 2021, at UAB in Birmingham, AL. He was born in Biloxi, MS, and raised in the Longino Community of Neshoba County. He graduated from NCHS in 1979. Mr. Mims was an active member of North Bend United Pentecostal Church. He enjoyed doing everything and was a jack-of-all-trades. He was quite a calm and compassionate person and loved helping others. He loved his family very much- more than himself. Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Shelia Mims of Philadelphia; daughter, Patience Mims of Philadelphia; three stepdaughters, Lacosta Yates (Dewayne) of Louisville, Angela Jenkins (Charlie) of Stewart, Shelly Bishop (Sidney) of Philadelphia; grandchildren, Destiny Gay (William), Jordan Barnes, Courtney Jenkins, James Threet, Caleb Bishop, Sarah Jenkins, Evan Chunn, Ava Bishop, Shelby Yates, Susannah Smith (Austin), Michael Yates (Chasity); three great-grandchildren, Makenzie Yates, Waylon Smith, Mackenlie Smith; sisters, Nancy Gunn (Lucian) of Olive Branch, Patsy Chapman (Brad) of Philadelphia, Cynthia Mims of Philadelphia; and a host of nieces and nephews. Preceding Mr. Mims in death were parents, Charles and Mary Margaret Mims; grandparents, Herbert Columbus Mims and Nancy Gennie Mims, Emmitt Ethridge and Mary Demarious Peden Ethridge. Pallbearers are Charlie Jenkins, Dewayne Yates, William Gay, James Threet, Caleb Bishop, Evan Chunn, Dusty Thomas, and Caleb Sanderson. Honorary pallbearers are Sidney Bishop and Terry Wayne Cook.
