Funeral services for Anita Carol Winstead Paxton will be held Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 11 a.m. from Bethsaida Baptist Church with Bro. Isaac Feltman and Bro. Billy James officiating. Burial will follow in Bethsaida Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday, August 10, 2024 from 9 a.m. until service times at Bethsaida Baptist Church. McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Paxton, 50, of Carthage, TX died Thursday, August 1, 2024. Anita Carol was a native of Philadelphia and graduated from Philadelphia High School in 1992 and was Valedictorian of her senior class. She went to Judson College in Alabama and graduated in 1995 with her master’s in Nuro Psychology and also worked as a Massage Therapist and Dr.’s Assistant. She loved cooking for her family and friends. Mrs. Paxton was a devoted member of Murvaul Missionary Baptist Church where she loved working in her church and would always help anyone in need. Survivors include her husband, Jerry Paxton of Carthage, TX; mother, Carolyn Barnett Winstead of Union; stepchildren, Brandon Paxton of Henderson and Brittany Hennessee of Whitehouse; grandchildren, Melody Rose Paxton and Madison Parker; brother, Richard Winstead (Stephany) of Union; niece, Krissy Winstead Long (Matthew); great nephew, Beau Winstead Long; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Mrs. Paxton was preceded in death by her father, Doyce Paul Winstead; brother, James Lavern Winstead; great nephew, Lawson Emitte Long; maternal grandparents, E.G. (Hop) and Juanita Singleton Barnett; paternal grandparents, Lavern and Bitha Mowdy Winstead; uncle, Eddis Winstead; and aunt, Elizabeth Wilson. Pallbearers, Mike Barnett, Glenn Barnett, Robert Barnett, Bobby Graham, Scotty Barnett, Barry Barnett and Jerry Simonson.
