A "Celebration of Life" memorial service for Ronald D. Richardson will be held Saturday, October 23rd at 6:00 p.m. at the YMBC building on Dantzler St., Moss Point, MS. Mr. Richardson, a retired teacher and coach, died on September 28, 2010 at home. He was born July 17, 1941 in Fairfield, IL. He was a graduate of Gardiner High School in Laurel, MS. Mr. Richardson was a U.S. Marine veteran. He served a tour of duty in the Vietnam War. Following his time in service he graduated from William Carey College with a degree in Social Studies. He spent his entire teaching/coaching career at Ed Mayo Jr. High School in the Moss Point School District. Following retirement Mr. Richardson relocated to Philadelphia, MS. He was a member of the East Philadelphia Baptist Church. Coach Richardson was passionate about his hobbies. He loved football, bottle hunting, metal detecting, and fishing. Mr. Richardson was preceded in death by his parents, Iva Dale and Howard Richardson; and brothers, Howard Richardson, Jr. and Milton Richardson. Survivors include his wife, Betty Richardson of Philadelphia, MS; son, Wade Richardson (Becky) of Moss Point, MS; daughter, Emily McGriff of Philadelphia, MS; four grandchildren, Zoey McGriff, Austin Richardson, Justin Richardson, and Karleigh Grace Richardson; one sister, Wanda Blackledge of Jacksonville, FL; one brother, Jim Richardson of Winnsboro, TX; and his loyal dachshund pup "Ronnie Rebel".
