MIKE CARR Mr. Elmer Crawley Akins, Jr., 83, of Philadelphia, died Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at Rush Hospital in Meridian. He was born and reared in Neshoba County where he made his home in the Fork Community most of his life. He was a member of Henry's Chapel United Methodist Church. Mr. Akins was retired after many years as an employee of Byars Furniture Company. Survivors include his wife, Waudine Akins of Philadelphia; daughters, Debbie Steed and her husband, Ricky of McCool and Norma Byrd and her husband, Ben of Philadelphia; son, Dwight Akins and his wife, Faye of Philadelphia; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and brother, Benjamin Taylor Akins of Philadelphia.
