Charles "Dub" Jayroe

WALTER WOODSONMr. Jayroe, 89, died Saturday, June 19, 2010 at his residence in Philadelphia.   He was a native and lifelong resident of Neshoba County and was retired from the maintenance department of U.S. Motors.  He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of American Legion.  He later served in the Mississippi Army National Guard.   He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, David Jayroe and Charlotte Jean McMahan; one great-grandchild, Dylan Charles Kilburn-Jayroe; three sisters, Polly Sharp, Mildred Sharp and Jane Seaman; two brothers, Willis Jayroe and  Milton Jayroe, Jr.   Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Margie L. Pilgrim Jayroe; daughter, Jurene Jayroe Nowell Jenkins; son, Charles Jethro Jayroe, all of Philadelphia; three grandchildren, Amber LaDale Fortenberry, Angel Nicole Nowell and Kurt May, all of Philadelphia; seven great-grandchildren; Taylor Kilburn and Devin Julia Jayroe, both of Fair Play, SC, Charles Dolton Matthews, Johnny Wesley Nowell, Jarrette Jayroe, Raylea May and Brayden May, all of Philadelphia; three sisters, May Sharp of Wiggins, Francis Hicks of Vicksburg and Margaret (Tootsie) Rickles of Philadelphia; brother, Billy Jayroe of Philadelphia and numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
