Whitehead will be held Friday, May 21, 2010 at 11 AM from McClain-Hays Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Thomas W. Sorrell and Rev. J.R. Hall officiating.  Burial will follow in Sandtown Cemetery.   Mr. Whitehead, 81, died Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland.   He was born and reared in Neshoba County and had made his home in Ridgeland since 1959.  He had been an active member of Ridgeland United Methodist Church since 1959 where he served numerous offices of the church.  Mr. Whitehead retired in 1991 from Vickers Inc. where he worked for 34 years. He was an avid hunter.   Mr. Whitehead was preceded in death by an infant son, Ricky Charles Whitehead and parents, William Sherman and Claudia Stokes Whitehead.   Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Odessa Robertson Whitehead of Ridgeland; sons, Jerry Whitehead and his wife, Wanniese of Philadelphia, and Danny Whitehead and his wife, Debra of Ridgeland; grandsons, Sid Whitehead and his wife, Barbie of Philadelphia and Ben Whitehead and his wife, Kylie of Philadelphia; granddaughter, Shelia Cooley and her husband, Heath of Ridgeland; great-grandchildren, Dade Cooley, Matt Cooley, Mason Whitehead, Bailey Whitehead, and Brady Stephenson; sisters, Opal Mobley of Utica and Margie Lewis of Madison; and brothers, Gerald Whitehead of Mountain View, AR, James Earl Whitehead and Douglas Whitehead both of Philadelphia, and Doice Whitehead of Lake Charles, LA.   Pallbearers are Greg Sharp, Olen Wayne Boswell, Marty Crawford, Ronald Burton, Tyrone Tank, and Steve Shelton.
