SERVICES:  SUNDAY, APRIL 25, 20102:00 P. M.  MCCLAIN-HAYS CHAPELVISITATION:  SATURDAY, APRIL 24, 2010        5:00 - 8:00 P. M.    INTERMENT:  CEDARLAWN CEMETERY Mr. Carter, 88, died Thursday, April 22, 2010 at Generations of Vernon in Vernon, AL. He was born and reared in Neshoba County, MS, made his home in Meridian, MS for a number of years where he retired from General Box Company. He moved back to Neshoba County in 1958 and had made his home in Vernon, AL for the past two years. Mr. Carter was a member of Bloomfield Congregational Methodist Church where he served as deacon. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and served during World War II; he was also a member of Neshoba County American Legion. Survivors include his wife, Jane Peebles Carter of Vernon, AL; daughters, Sandra Stokes of Montgomery, AL and Carolyn Boykin of Lawrenceville, GA; son, James Rudolph Carter of Vernon, AL; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; sister, Janice Homan of Millport, AL and one brother, Robert Jerome Carter of Northport, AL. Pallbearers will be Scott Carter, Christopher Carter, Brian Carter, Keith Carter, Benjamin Boykin, Everett Story, Jr., Brian Alfreds, Cindy Freeman, Kimberly Story, Michelle Alfreds and Stephanie Boykin.
