HOLLIS WARREN Mr. Johnny Hester Smith, 86, of DeKalb (Damascus Community), died Saturday, January 2, 2010 at his residence.   Mr. Smith was born March 19, 1923 in Kemper County, the son of James Edward and Cora Eakes Smith.  He served in the United States Navy in the South Pacific Theatre during world War II.  Mr. Smith was a merchant and cattle farmer and owned and operated J. H. Smith's General Merchandise in the Moscow Community.  He served as Kemper County District Three Supervisor for twelve years.  Mr. Smith was a lifelong member and deacon of Damascus Free Will Baptist Church.  A 32 degree Scottish Rite Mason and Shriner, past master and member of Coffadeliah Masonic Lodge #371 for more than fifty years.   Survivors include his wife, Daisy Walker Smith of DeKalb; one daughter, Judi Sullivan and her husband, Garry of DeKalb; one son, Milford Smith and his wife, Pam of Meridian; four grandchildren, Dana Brantley and her husband, Ron of St. Louis, Missouri; Amy Dennison and her husband, Tim of Brandon; Drew Sullivan and his wife, Kelly of Fairhope, Alabama and Lesley Smith of Meridian; four great-grandchildren, Madison, Laurel, Ashlan, and Laney; two sisters, Ruby S. Weathers of DeKalb and Lucy S. Hays of Jackson. Pallbearers:  Marshall Smith, W. L. Smith, Bob Roberson, Kenny Snowden, Jason Anderson, R. B. Marshall, Robert Smith and Douglas Weathers.  Honorary pallbearers will be James Crocker, Don Anderson, James Weathers, Jr., Tommy Smith, Mose Fleming, Bobby Smith, Randy Smith and Richard Smith.
