Roy "Sporty" Goodin

SERVICES:  TUESDAY,DECEMBER 8, 2009 @ 11:00 A. M. WOODLAND HILLS BAPTIST CHURCHJACKSON, MSOFFICIATING: REV. TYLER PIGOTT Visitation will be held Monday, December 7, 2009 from 4 PM until 6 PM at McClain-Hays Funeral Home in Philadelphia and from 9 AM until service time at Woodland Hills Baptist Church in Jackson, MS.Graveside services will be held at 3 PM from Eastlawn Cemetery in Philadelphia, MS with military honors and under the direction of McClain-Hays Funeral Home.  Mr. Roy "Sporty" Goodin, 92, died Friday, December 4, 2009 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland.   Mr. Goodin was a native of Kemper County.  He lived in the Bloomo Community of Neshoba County for several years.  He then moved to Houston, TX and lived there for 30 years before moving back to his home in Jackson.  Mr. Goodin was a member of the Woodland Hills Baptist Church in Jackson.  He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and served during World War II.   Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Lillie Goodin of Jackson; a daughter, Barbara Moore of Madison; two grandchildren, September Moore and Brooke Wells, both of Jackson; two great-grandchildren, Joesph Wells and Lexi Wells; a sister, Earline Warren of DeKalb and a host of nieces and nephews.
