LAVELLE WOODRICK Mrs. Esther Dees Barnette, 98, of DeKalb, died Monday, November 23, 2009 in Kemper County. She was a native and long time resident of the Cleveland Community of Kemper County. She was a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church. She enjoyed special friends in her ceramic group in Meridian for many years. Mrs. Barnette was preceded in death by her husband, Durwood (Gene) Barnette; daughter, Wanda Kay Barnette; brother, Sammy Dees; and sister, Etta Dees.Survivors include sons, Roy Barnette and wife, Joyce of St. Louis, MO, and Robert Barnette and wife, Allison of Caledonia; grandchildren, Jill Shroff and husband, Steve of St. Louis, MO, Dr. Alan Barnette and wife, Dr. Kate of Cape Girardeau, MO, and Candace Barnette of Caledonia; great-grandchildren, Megan Shroff, Allison Shroff, and Eliza Barnette; and special friends, Earnestine Jones and Marie Vick. Pallbearers: Josh Caldwell, Brock Clay, Ryan Clay, Ryan Kennedy, Bill Barnett, Aaron Barnett, and Kenneth Allen; honorary pallbearers are James Prentis Smith, Homer Fain, and Willie Jim Mitchell.
