KEITH HALLMyrtis Juanita Milling Mitchell greeted her savior face to face on November 18, 2009.Aunt Myrt, as she was affectionately known, was born in Neshoba County on December 10, 1914, the oldest of seven siblings born to Lester Carlton and Gertie Gipson Milling.  Her father's occupation as noted on her birth certificate was "oxen driver".  She fondly recalled carrying lunch in an old syrup bucket to her father working in the fields.  Her father was a lay preacher in the Mississippi Church of God and she remembered crossing flooding waters in the wagon to get to church. On August 11, 1933 she married Dee Armond Mitchell of Sebastopol, MS and they were married more than 50 years.  Their lives were focused on faith, family and friends.  Myrtis loved to cook, sew, quilt, tend her yard, and visit on the front porch.  Her family often gathered to enjoy her biscuits, chicken and dressing, and coconut cobbler. She is survived by her daughter, Alice and husband, Tommy Boykin of Carthage, MS, son-in-law, Lewis Coffey of Starkville, MS, and her siblings, Jack Milling of Florence, MS, Nadean Slaughter of Philadelphia, MS, and Doyle Milling of Fort Walton, FL, seven grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband, Dee Mitchell and her daughter, Billie Coffey of Louisville, MS as well as her siblings, Irvin Milling of Dixon, MS, Erna Milling of Mobile, AL and Eleanor Moore of Clinton, MS.Pallbearers:  Greg Boykin, Jeff Boykin, Christopher Coffey, Jessie Coffey, Gary Hillman and Butch Slaughter.Her family wishes to extend special thanks to the Neshoba County Nursing Home and Quality Hospice Care for their kind care during the last years and weeks of her life.
