LAKEWOOD MEMORIAL CEMETERYJACKSON, MSOFFICIATING: DR. DAN HOWARDMs. Nita, 96, of Madison, MS, passed away Sunday, August 6, 2017, at Manhattan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Jackson. A native of Neshoba County, Ms. Nita was a graduate of House High School and Jackson Commercial College. In her lifetime she worked as a secretary for various places and retired from the Mississippi State Dept. of Education. As a devout Christian, Ms. Nita faithfully served in the many Baptist Churches with which she was affiliated. She was a loving and proud mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Ms. Nita was preceded in death by the father of her children and husband of 31 years, H. S. Allen, and husband of 26 years, G.W. Herrington; parents, Jeff and Sudie Knight; three brothers; and five sisters. Survivors include daughters, Beth Allen Allison of Woodville TX, and Kay Allen Dufour and husband Scott of Madison MS; grandchildren, Elizabeth Kenesson and husband Jay, Michael Allison and wife Marilyn, Laura Harris and husband Parker, and Allison Dufour; six great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.Pallbearers were Michael Allison, Jacob Allison, Joshua Allison, Jay Kenesson, James Kenesson, Scott Dufour, Parker Harris and Lofton Harris. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Philadelphia Wee Care Fund.
