Services for George Levan Eldridge were held Friday, September 25, 2009 at 2 PM from McClain-Hays Chapel with Rev. Len Wedgeworth and Rev. Kelly Tingle officiating. Interment was in Golden Grove Cemetery in Union with Masonic rites. Mr. Eldridge, 83, of Union, died Monday, September 21, 2009 at his home. He was a native and longtime resident of the Golden Grove Community of Neshoba County. He was retired from the cutting department of Midland Shirt Factory in Union. Mr. Eldridge attended Crossroads Baptist Church and was a member of Henry Clay Masonic Lodge #485 in Union and was a member of Order of Eastern Star for over 40 years serving in various positions. He had served as state chairman of the Meridian Masonic Children's Home and as regional counselor for The Little Red School House in Richton, MS. Mr. Eldridge was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII. He was a farmer and avid gardener. Mr. Eldridge was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Eldridge; a grandson, Anthony Rigdon; and brother, Travis Eldridge and his wife, Lou. Survivors include daughters, Jean Rigdon and her husband, Dwight of Brandon and Sherry Brantley of Raymond; son, Phil Eldridge of Union; one granddaughter, Sarah Rigdon of Brandon; host of step-grandchildren and their families; sister, Anne Webb of Winter Haven, FL; and brother, Herman Eldridge and his wife, Joyce of Natchez; and numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
