He was a native of Neshoba County and attended Philadelphia High School, where he lettered in baseball and football. As the Philadelphia Tornadoes starting quarterback, the team won the 1981 State Championship. He received his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of Mississippi in 1986. Justin was an avid hunter and loved sharing the family farm with friends. He is survived by his father, Eddie Howard Johnson of Picayune, MS; half brother, Jeremiah Johnson of New Orleans, LA; half sister, Julia Johnson of Lexington, KY; and his stepfather, Philip Delivorias, of Starkville, MS. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Hellen Massey Delivorias of Starkville, MS, and his grandparents, Faucette N. Massey and Ella T. Watkins Massey.
