Services for Mr. W. C. Tubby were held Friday, September 11, 2009 at 2:00 PM from Hope Indian Baptist Church with interment in the Hope Indian Cemetery. Visitation was held at the home of his daughter, Betty Phillips, 286 Goat Ranch Road, Choctaw, MS.Mr. Tubby, 85, of Choctaw, died Monday, September 7, 2009, at the Choctaw Health Center.Mr. Tubby was married to the late Audie Mae Steve from the Tucker community. His family was the first family selected to relocate to Chicago, Illinois through the Bureau of Indian Affairs Relocation Program in 1954. Mr. Tubby returned to Mississippi in 1991 and worked for Tribal Maintenance department until his retirement. Mr. Tubby served in the U. S. Navy during World War II and later received an honorable discharge. He was a member of the Hope Indian Baptist Church in the Pearl River Comminity. Survivors include his daughters, Betty Tubby Phillips and Eleanor Diane Tubby Taylor, from Choctaw, MS and Rosemary Tubby Zeman from Lake Station, IN; sons, Steve Tubby, Rafael Dewayne Tubby, Kenny Tubby and Darron Tubby, from Choctaw, MS; 40 grandchildren; 68 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and many relatives and friends.
