She was a lifetime resident of Neshoba County and will be remembered as a wonderful teacher who put family and Christ first in her life. She earned degrees from ECCC and the University of Mississippi, where she received her B. A. in elementary education. She taught with the Bureau Of Indian Affairs at Choctaw Central for 22 years and at Neshoba Central Elementary School for 23 years. She was a member of NAARFE (National Association of Active and Retired Federal Employees) and a member of the First Baptist Church in Philadelphia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thurman Thompson, who together owned and operated Thompson Drugstore for many years, and a son, Tim Thompson. Survivors include two granddaughters, Rachel (Drew) Robertson of Philadelphia and Katelyn (Haigan) Thompson of Philadelphia; great-grandchildren, Gracyn and Chap Robertson and Reid and Rylen Thompson.
