GRAVESIDE SERVICES: FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 3, 20171:00 P.M. EVANS TABERNACLE CEMETERY Tommye Zelle Wolverton, 85, of Meridian, Mississippi, died on February 1, 2017. She was born on November 10, 1931 in the Sam Neville community in Neshoba County. She was the daughter of Buford Wolverton and Elva Rada Vance Wolverton. She attended school at New Ireland and Union, graduating from Union High School. She worked as a bookkeeper in Union and in Newton. She and her niece Sheila Moore Mitchell enjoyed working on the Wolverton and Vance family histories. They spent many hours through the years collecting their stories by visiting family members, home sites and cemeteries in Neshoba, Newton and Leake Counties. Tommye was an excellent pianist and enjoyed playing at church as well as for residents and staff of the Meridian Community Living Center where she lived for the last five years. Survivors include her sister, Rada Wolverton Murray of Meridian, several nieces and nephews as well as Elizabeth Wesson Lewis and Cathy Wesson Gill whom she loved as daughters. Mrs. Wolverton was preceded in death by her parents as well as two sisters: Marie Wolverton Brawner and Lucille Wolverton Moore. Donations may be made in Tommye’s memory to the Meridian Community Living Center, 517 33rd Street, Meridian, MS 39395 or to the charity of one’s choice.
