MATT FARMER Mrs. Atkinson,76, of Preston, MS, died Friday, November 25, 2016, at Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian. She was a native and lifelong resident of Kemper County.  She taught high school and elementary education for 42 years until she retired from Kemper County Public Schools. Mrs. Atkinson was a member of Big Oak United Methodist Church where she also served as pianist/organist. Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Ivan Atkinson and her son, Casey Atkinson, both of Preston; brothers, Jeff George (Teresa) and Delane George (Martha), all of Dekalb; brother-in-law, Graham Hanna of Philadelphia; and a host of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Atkinson was preceded in death by her parents, Thurman and Ethel George; sisters-in-law, Frances Lucille Atkinson and Dorothy Jo Hanna. Pallbearers will be Cory Blakely, Curt Skipper, Alex George, Payton George, Kameron Ferguson, Jackie Branning, Joe Neal and Jackie McKee.
