James Harry Ritchie

GRAVESIDE SERVICE: MONDAY, NOVEMBER 14, 20163:00 P.M. CEDARLAWN CEMETERY James Harry Ritchie, 80, native of Philadelphia, died on Saturday, November 12, 2016, at the Mississippi Care Center in Raleigh.  Born December 30, 1935, he was the only son of B. B. Ritchie and French Moore Ritchie who preceded him in death.  Harry attended Philadelphia schools and was a member of First Baptist Church.  After moving away from Philadelphia as a young adult, he taught Sunday School.  He and his favorite uncle, the late Richard Thompson Moore, shared a passion for baseball.  Harry loved to read and easily memorized many statistics in Major League Baseball. Mr. Ritchie is survived by a host of cousins in Mississippi, Texas, South Carolina and Arkansas.   The service will be officiated by Reverend George Mitchell, husband of Harry’s cousin, Sheila Moore Mitchell of Pine Bluff, Arkansas.  Memorials may be sent to Mississippi Care Center in Raleigh.
