DAN HOWARDREV. DON COOKMr. Walker, 97, of Philadelphia, died Wednesday, August 24, 2016, at Atwood Personal Care Home in Philadelphia. He was a native and lifelong resident of Arlington Community. He retired from Mississippi Highway Department. He was a farmer and former owner/operator of Montgomery Ward Store in Philadelphia. Mr. Walker was a member of East Philadelphia Baptist Church. He served in the U. S. Army during WWII and was stationed in New Guinea where he received his purple heart. He was a member of VFW and American Legion. He was a Mason and member of the Neshoba County Shrine Club. Mr. Walker was an avid sportsman. Survivors include his wife, Claudine Walker of Philadelphia; daughter, Beverly Moore of Philadelphia; sons, Larry Walker (Dianna) of Philadelphia, Gary Walker (Sandra) of Clinton, MS; grandchildren, Tina Bullock, Scott Walker, Matt McLemore, Steven Elmore, Crystal Jolley, Nicole Register, Jody Walker and Keith Moore; 25 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; two nieces, Mary Ruth Howell and Martha Myers. He was preceded in death by his parents, Will and Josie Walker; grandson, Rev. Steve Moore; sisters, Vernice Steward and Lela Agent; brothers, Marvin, Riley, Chester, Olen and Robert Walker; and son-in-law, Rev. Dewey W. Moore. Pallbearers are Scott Walker, Steven Elmore, Jody Walker, Matt McLemore, Matt Jolley and Wes Register. In lieu of flowers family requests memorials be made to Transportation Fund, Neshoba County Shrine Club, c/o Dennis Dontrich, 819 Woodland Hills Drive, Philadelphia, MS 39350, or your favorite charity.
