Arthur "Smoky" Phillips

BILLY MCKAY Mr. Arthur "Smoky" Phillips, 86, of Madison, MS, died Saturday, July 23, 2016, at his residence. He was a native of Neshoba County.  He retired from the University of Mississippi Medical Center after 27 years of service; then cattle farmed for many years after his retirement.  Mr. Phillips served in the U. S. Army with the 31st Infantry Division during the Korean Conflict. He was a  member of First Baptist Church in Madison. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Geraldine Ward “Jeri” Phillips of Madison; daughters, Paula Ballard (Tony) of Ocean Springs, Carla Harris (Leland) of Madison and Vicki Minninger (Mike) of Flora; grandchildren, Jamie Wynn, Jason Ballard, David Harris (Jill), Jessica Tichy (John) and Dylan Dyer; great-grandchildren, Easton and Cayden Wynn and Asher Harris; sisters, Isalene Grant of Milford, MI, Janell Smith and Arnita Logan, both of Philadelphia, Dot Phillips of Kosciusko; brothers, Frank, Thomas and Jerry Phillips, all of Philadelphia; and a host of nieces and nephews. Mr. Phillips was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny A. and Kate Hill Phillips; brothers, J. A. Phillips, Jr. and Charlie Phillips; and a great-grandchild, Leland David “Trey” Harris III.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to University of Mississippi Medical Center, Blair E. Batson Children's Hospital.
