May 8, 1959 — July 16, 2016

GRAVESIDE SERVICES:THURSDAY, JULY 21, 20163:30 P.M. MARS HILL CEMETERYWINSTON COUNTY VISITATION:  THURSDAY, JULY 21, 20161:00 P.M.MCCLAIN-HAYS FUNERAL HOMEOFFICIATING: JAMES MALBROUGHEdwin “Buddy” Tew was born on May 8, 1959 to Jackie and Carolyn Tew. He passed away peacefully on July 16, 2016, at the age of 57. He was preceded in death by his Father, Jackie Tew. Survived by Carolyn Tew (mother), Dayna Cherie Malbrough (daughter) her husband James Malbrough, Christina Denise Gooden (daughter) her husband Jason Gooden, Cassandra Dea Boykins (daughter) her husband Aaron Boykins, Belvia Hemphill (sister) her husband John Hemphill, Rupert Tew (brother) his wife Cindy Tew. He also leaves behind two beloved granddaughters, Graysen Gooden and Ava Malbrough as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Born as Edwin but affectionately called Buddy by those who knew him. While the most recent years in his life were filled with pain and difficulty due to his bout with throat cancer, his sense of humor and joy in his life were never diminished. Even during his most difficult and darkest days, he maintained his playful personality and would always make an attempt to get others to laugh. In knowing him, you knew there was nothing that meant more to him than having his family close. It was only right that a man with so much love and affection in his heart have three little girls to share it with. Daddy, as he was known to his daughters, instilled in them a love of family, music, hunting, and just “sitting in the woods.” Buddy was a tender hearted man full of love and affection not only for his three daughters, but for his family and friends. While he is resting in sleep and no longer in pain it is his family who now is burdened with this sorrow of his loss. Now as we, his daughters, figure out a way to navigate life without the first love of our lives, our daddy, we want to express our greatest thanks for the heartfelt expressions of support to us as well as to our Mawmaw, and Aunt Belvia and Uncle Rupert. In the days and weeks ahead please support one another and always show your loved ones how much they mean to you, as it is what our daddy would have wanted. While the depth of this sorrow is temporary, it is at present heavy on our hearts. We look forward to seeing him again based on Jehovah God’s promise of a resurrection in Revelation 21:3, 4 and John 5:28, 29. We mourn the loss our sweet daddy and pray to Jehovah, as he did, for peace in our hearts and strength to carry on. Pallbearers were John Hemphill, Jessie Howard, Jason Goodin, Aaron Boykins, Chaz Tew and Paul Smith, Jr. Honorary pallbearer was Rupert Tew.
