Matthews, 72, died Monday, July 4, 2016, at Good Shepherd Hospice House in Lakeland, Florida.She was a native of Perry County, lived in Jackson County for 45 years, then moved to Neshoba County where she and her husband worked in the ministry at Camp Dixon Campgrounds. She then spent time with her children between Texas and Florida. Survivors include her daughter, Stephanie Mizelle (Winston) of Conroe, Texas; sons, Gregory O. Matthews, Sr. (Stephany) of Richton, Mississippi, and Dwight D. Matthews (Jean) of Bartow, Florida; grandchildren, Derrick Matthews, Gregory O. Matthews, Jr., Kaleb Matthews and Darion L. Matthews; stepgrandchildren, Candence Hicks and Lindsey Britt; and a host of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Matthews was preceded in death by her husband, Sim Matthews. Pallbearers are Gregory E. Matthews Jr., Eddy Merritt, Derrick Matthews, Earnie Davis, and Landon Bounds. Honorary pallbearers are Darion Matthews and Becky Cubbage.
