John Wesley Young

DON COOKMr. Young, 73, of Philadelphia, died Monday, June 27, 2016, at his home.He was a native of the Linwood Community and a graduate of Neshoba Central High School. Mr. Young moved to Jackson, AL, where he was employed with Commercial Credit and married Norma Jo McGee in 1964. He later moved to Baldwin County, AL, where he was Vice President of Regions Bank. While in Loxley, AL, at the age of 29, he served from 1972 until 1976 as Mayor.  Mr. Young retired from South Trust Bank as Senior Vice President in 1989. In 1991, he married Erma Wood and later went to work for American Mortgage until 2006. Mr. Young later moved back to Philadelphia, where he was a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife Erma Young of Philadelphia; two children, Lynn Coleman and her husband, Ricky of Atmore, AL, and Randy Young of Fairhope, AL; three grandchildren, Jonathan Lowell, Stephanie Lowell and Ansley Young; three great-grandchildren, Mason Lowell, Adam Lowell and Alyssa Lowell; a sister, Jean May of Philadelphia; numerous nieces, nephews and their families; and a host of friends. Mr. Young was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Cleveland and Lola Spears Young; a sister, Bertie Mae Cannon; and a brother, Richard Young.Pallbearers were William Smith, Chandler Young, Dale Hurt, Adam Boren, Jonathan Lowell and Roger Lowell. Honorary pallbearer was Stan Ethredge.
