Blount, age 79, of the Spring Creek Community died peacefully at his home on Wednesday, April 27, 2016. He would have been 80 years old May 10, 2016. He was a story teller and an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved the outdoors and giving away fish he had caught and vegetables grown in his garden to his neighbors. He worked as a salesman for Cole Brothers and warehouse manager for Cole Brothers and Fox for forty plus years. He was born in the Spring Creek community on Mother’s Day in 1936. He was the best Mother’s Day gift his mother ever received. He was a long-time member of Spring Creek Baptist Church, having lived in the community since 1962 after briefly living in Meridian, MS and working for Hardin’s Bakery. He served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher for many years. He was also a member of the choir. He is survived by his wife, Janie Edwards Blount. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on December 22, 2015 surrounded by family and friends. He is also survived by daughters, Kay (Michael) Hillman of Philadelphia, MS, Pam (Johnny) Moore-Wilcher of Carthage, MS, and son, Joey (Sheila) Blount of Philadelphia, MS. Mr. Blount has one surviving sister, Helen Jones of Meridian, MS. He is preceded in death by parents, J.T. and Katie Sisson Blount, sister, Edna Jackson and infant brother Billy Blount. Norman is survived by six grandchildren, Bonnie (John Mark) Watkins Posey, Josh (Liz) Moore, Jon Michael (Kristen) Hillman, John (Anna) Blount, Katie Hillman, and Joseph Blount. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Damon Witcher, Alison Witcher, Jon Tristin Posey and Joslynn Posey and Baby Moore on the way and several nieces and nephews.Pallbearers are John Mark Posey, Josh Moore, Jon Michael Hillman, John Blount, Joseph Blount and Damon Witcher. This family would like to express their utmost gratitude to Dr. Todd Willis, Dr. Kevin Beason, Dr. Jessica Myers, as well as the staff of Neshoba General Hospital and the Quality Hospice Care Team for the wonderful care provided.
