CHRIS YOUNGMrs. Sylvia Sutton Pope, 81, of Philadelphia, died Friday, February 26, 2016, at her residence. She was a native of Jackson, MS and a longtime resident of Philadelphia.  She had worked for Dr. R.A. Posey, Sr. as a dental assistant in the late 50’s and early 60’s. Mrs. Pope was a member of First United Methodist Church in Philadelphia where she was a choir member. Survivors include her husband, Dorman Pope of Philadelphia; sons, Ted Pope (Patty) of Philadelphia and Ed Pope (Laura) of Meridian; daughter, Jessica Hubbard (William) of Starkville; grandchildren, Dylan Pope, Brandon Pope, Ty May, Savannah and Kyle Hubbard. Mrs. Pope was preceded in death by her parents, Emmett and Iris Sutton.Pallbearers were Dylan Pope, Brandon Pope, Ty May, Stacy Sims, Robert McCoy, William Adams, Gary Akins and Joseph Rigdon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to First United  Methodist Church or St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Memphis, TN.
