RICK FORBISREV. LESLIE COURTNEY Rev. Robertson, 84, of Philadelphia, died Sunday, February 7, 2016, at his home. Rev. Bennie Robertson was born on January 8, 1932, to Elbert and Etta Miles Robertson.  He was one of twelve children.  After marrying Helen Tanksley they moved to Ohio, where he accepted the call into the ministry.  He pastored in Louisville and Macon, Mississippi, before returning to Ohio.  He and his family moved to Bowling Green, Kentucky, and pastored from 1970 to 1974.  In December of 1974, he returned to Philadelphia, Mississippi, to McClain Chapel and pastored for 34 years. He and Helen, after 62 years of marriage, have two daughters, Wanda (Jerry) Coward and Jo Myatt; four grandchildren, Tyler (Amanda), Stephanie, Cody, and Natalie; four great- grandchildren, Rae Lynn, Emily, Leilani, and Tristan; sisters, Lillie Kiener of Hartville, Ohio, Lola Espenschied of Hartville, Ohio, Maxine Butler of Caledonia, Mississippi, and Joyce Fettrow of Columbus, Ohio; brothers, Horace Robertson of Louisville, Mississippi, Travis Robertson of Louisville, Mississippi, and Roland Robertson of Brandon, Mississippi; and numerous nieces, nephews, and their families.  He lived an exemplary life making him an excellent role model for his family and fellow man. He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Steve Myatt; sister, Edna Vandevender; and brothers, Jimmie, Milton, and Cloys.Pallbearers are Jerry Coward, Tyler Coward, Cody Coward, Brad Edmonds, Travis Robertson and Wayne Zona.   One of his favorite verses and life's motto:“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith; henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day; and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” II Timothy 4:7-8
