BRIAN WEIR Mr. Charles "Son" Atkinson, 84, of Philadelphia, died Friday, December 18, 2015, at Atwood Personal Care Home in Philadelphia. He was a native and lifelong resident of the Arlington community in Neshoba County.  He retired as store manager for Dowdle Gas Company in Philadelphia.  Mr. Atkinson was Baptist by faith. He was a member of Philadelphia Masonic Lodge and Hamasa Shrine.  Mr. Atkinson served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict and was a member of VFW. Survivors include his son, Donnie Atkinson (Susan) of Philadelphia; granddaughter, Pamela Nowell (Nicky) of Philadelphia; great-grandson, William Cumberland; sister, Mildred Ryals of DeKalb; brother, Willard “Punk” Atkinson of Philadelphia; several nieces, nephews, and their families. Mr. Atkinson was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Bell Atkinson; parents, Leonard and Annie Kate Atkinson; brothers, Robert Atkinson and Walter “Babe” Atkinson.
