John Riley Moore

MARK GILLMr. John Riley Moore, 86, of Philadelphia, died Thursday, October 29, 2015, at Neshoba County Nursing Home. He was born in Kaufman, Texas, and was a resident of Belzoni and Louise for a number of years.  He had made his home in Neshoba County since 1986.  Mr. Moore was Baptist by faith.  He served in the U.S. Army Air Forces during WWII and was a retired carpenter.  He was an avid outdoorsman, loved fishing and hunting, and also enjoyed playing the guitar and singing. Survivors include his wife, Mary E. Moore of Philadelphia; daughters, Anne Moore Cook and her husband, Joey of Houston, Mary Ann Winslow and her husband, Billy of Little Rock, AR, Carolyn Boswell and her husband, Hilton of Philadelphia, Rita Godbold of Meridian and Cindy Moore Adkins and her husband, Gordon of Philadelphia; sons, Buster Moore and his wife, Alana of Indianola, James Godbold and his wife, Linda of Oxford and David Godbold of Kentucky; 24 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren. Mr. Moore was preceded in death by a son, Rocky Moore; wife, Bernice Moore; grandson, Patrick Lee McCool; parents, Paul and Dora Moore; and seven brothers and sisters. Pallbearers are Sherrell Breazeale, Joey Cook, Mack McGee, Phillip McCool, Paul Moorehead and George Yates.  Honorary pallbearers are Ky Jones and Sonny Carter.
