ANDY MAYREV. PETE GAWDAJean, as she preferred to be called, was born on September17, 1931, to Syble Sisson and Herman Nowell. Just a few daysago, she celebrated her 84th birthday. She was the first born of Syble and Herman’s nine children.It was through mutual relatives that Jean and Dencil met.They were married on September 16, 1948, and celebratedsixty‐four wonderful years together. Their union producedthree wonderful children (Steve, Daniel, and Debra), sixincredible grandchildren (Brandon, Nathan, Joshua, Sherry,Erin, and Grayson) and five fabulous great‐grandchildren(Katelyn, Kirsten, Holden, Conner, and Savannah).Jean stayed active in the church teaching Sunday School andVacation Bible School and participating in multiple ChristianWomen Clubs for over twenty‐five years. She and Dencil bothwere also Scout Leaders when their boys were active inscouting. Through the years, her “family” increased throughthe addition of many of her kid’s and her grandkid’s friends.She became a mother figure to them all. She touchedcountless lives with her wit, wisdom, and love.Imogene was preceded in death by her husband, Dencil Blount; parents, Herman Nowell and Syble Sisson Nowell; sisters, Christine Pettie, Emma Lou Myers, and Helen Harris. Survivors include children, Steve Blount (Deborah) of Houston, TX, Daniel Blount (Terrie) of Brandon, MS, Debra Hays (Rodger) of Laplace, LA; grandchildren, Brandon A. Blount (Crystal), Joshua Blount (Pamela), Sherry Blount, Nathan Hays (Carrie), Erin Goodwin (Richard), Grayson Rogers; great‐grandchildren, Katelyn Blount, Kirsten Blount, Holden Hays, Conner Hays, Savannah Hays; three brothers, Jack, Mitchell and Vincent Nowell; and two sisters, Fay Myers and Hilda Carver.Pallbearers were Brandon Blount, Nathan Hays, Conner Hays, Joe Brown, Byron Nowell and Mitchell Nowell II.
