CHRIS GULLY Mr. Davis, 92, of Preston, died Thursday, September 17, 2015, at Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian. He was a native and lifelong resident of the Lynville community in Kemper County. He served as a Boy Scout Leader for several years. Mr. Davis was one of the founding board members of Kemper Academy and also helped organize the Northwest Kemper Water Association. He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was a member of the VFW. Mr. Davis was a member of Lynville United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Jane Helen Davis of Preston; daughter, Iva Lou Cumberland (Joel) of Preston; sons, David M. Davis (Valerie) of Herndon, VA, and Jack Nathan Davis (Laura) of Baton Rouge, LA; grandchildren: Lori Ellen Hudnall, Jason and Seth Cumberland; Miles, Preston, Clayton and Mackenzie Davis; Keely and Tory Davis; great-grandchildren: Raina and Leela Hudnall; Davis and Sybil Claire Cumberland; Brynnan Grace and Avery Anne Davis; Shaun and John Brantley Cumberland; sisters, Kathleen Amick of Louisville, KY, and Ruth McHann of Starkville; and a host of nieces and nephews. Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his first wife, Bobbie Loraine Davis; brothers, Jack Davis and Luke Davis; and sisters, Rachel Culvahouse and Cecil Massey. Pallbearers are David Davis, Nathan Davis, Miles Davis, Preston Davis, Jason Cumberland, Seth Cumberland, Joel Cumberland and Jim Scrivener.
