KEVIN MEADOWSINTERMENT: PLEASANT SPRINGS CEMETERYWITH MILITARY HONORS Mr. VanDevender, 94, of Preston, died Sunday, May 3, 2015, in his home. He was a native of Kemper County. He and his wife of 64 years lived in Ohio for 35 years until their retirement and then returned to Preston in 1992. He was a WWII veteran, serving with the Marines in the Pacific, a member of VFW Post 5042, and a member of Pleasant Springs Presbyterian Church. Survivors include three daughters, Yolanda VanDevender of Peoria, AZ, Gayle Rigdon of Mesa, AZ, and Sharon Bodle of Chandler, AZ; three granddaughters; three great-grandsons, one great-granddaughter, and one great-great-granddaughter; two brothers, James VanDevender of Auburn, AL and Leon Fulton of Preston, and a host of nieces and nephews. Mr. VanDevender was preceded in death by his wife, Christine R. VanDevender, and his parents, Jacob and Alline VanDevender.Pallbearers were Kevin Copeland, Terrell Fulton, Lester Willoughby, Greg Ball, Roy Burch, John Miskin and Mike Luke.
