M.INTERMENT:  PLEASANT SPRINGS CEMETERYPRESTON, MSOFFICIATING:REV. STEVE CRAFTDR. DAN HOWARDMrs. Durant, 70, of Preston, died Friday, February 13, 2015, at The Specialty Hospital of Meridian. She was born in the Preston community and made her home in Kemper County most of her life.  She was a graduate of Lynville High School, East Mississippi Community College and Mississippi State University, with a bachelor’s and master’s degree.  Mrs. Durant taught public school at Neshoba Central and Tucker Tribal Schools. She was a member of Pleasant Springs Presbyterian Church. Survivors include her daughter, Tonya Hancock (Dale) of Philadelphia; sons, Tony L. Durant of DeKalb and David Durant (Kay) of Philadelphia; grandchildren, Katelyn Durant, Cole Durant, Jordan Hancock, Dylan Durant, Jacob Hancock, Jesse Hancock and Sam Durant, all of Philadelphia; and a host of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Durant was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Ruby Palmer; sister, Peggy Jo Johnson; and brothers, Hester Palmer, Sam C. “Jack” Palmer and Henry Palmer. Pallbearers were Chad Wright, Joe Lee Durant, Daniel Haggard, Phillip Haggard, William “Bo” Palmer, Shane Sanderford, Mike Sanderford and Terry Todd.
