Roy Dwight Mulholland died January 22, 2015. He was a native of Neshoba County and was reared in the Shady Grove Community. Dwight was a member of Mt. Carmel Church of God. He was a graduate of Shady Grove High School and attended East Central Junior College from 1937-1939. In 1939 he transferred to Mississippi State University. He graduated with honors in 1941 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Engineering. In 1979 he retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 37 years as a rural letter carrier. Dwight was also a retired dairy, cotton and tree farmer. He served as a board member of Newton Federal Land Bank and was a board member of Bank of Philadelphia. He also served as a board member of the East Mississippi Farmers Livestock Association of Philadelphia as well as the Neshoba County Gin and the Philadelphia-Neshoba County Museum. Dwight served three and a half years in the U.S. Army in World War II. Two of those years being served in the Italian Campaign. Survivors include his wife, Rachel Shaw Mulholland; one son, Ernie Marshall and wife, Sara; five daughters, Kathy Irby, Kay Mulholland, Kathy Potter and husband, Mark, Sherry Freer, Angela Grant and husband, Chuck; six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
