VERNELL DANIELSREV. DOUG STOKES Mr. Stokes, 79, of Preston, died Thursday, January 8, 2015 at Anderson Regional Medical Center-North in Meridian. He was a native of Kemper County and longtime resident of the Coy community.  He retired from Taylor Machine Works in Louisville after 25 years.  Mr. Stokes was a member of Dry Creek Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Idell Green Stokes of Preston; daughters, Joy Griffin (Lamar) of Collinsville and Cindy Linton (Butch) of Meridian; sons, Mike Stokes (Patricia) of Louisville and Doug Stokes (Melanie) of Porterville; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Barbara Davis of West Palm Beach, FL; brother, Terry Stokes of Louisville; and numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Pallbearers were Danny Hutcherson, Bolie Douglas Stokes, Jeff Linton, Anthony Linton, Trevor Stokes, Cody Eakes, Butch Linton and Joe Fleming.
