She was a native of Neshoba County and had lived in Carthage for the past several years.  Mrs. Mowdy was a member of West Carthage Baptist Church. Survivors include her daughters, Debra Cole of Philadelphia and Janet Lee French of Arlington, TN; sons, Donald Ray Mowdy of Carthage and Richard Lane Mowdy of Horn Lake; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Beatrice Mowdy of Woodbridge, VA, Dorothy Holyfield of Pearl, Jean Winfield of Brandon, Betty Jane Rollins of Baltimore, MD, and Helen Rollins of Baltimore, MD; brothers, William Lane McLemore of Fannin and J.T. McLemore of Ripley; step-sisters, Margaret McElhenney of Decatur and Mildred McElhenney of Decatur; and a host of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Mowdy was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Mowdy.Pallbearers were John Winfield, James Gilmer, James Murphy, Dwayne Hamrick, Grant Mayo and Luke Murphy.
