DAN HOWARDMs. Posey, 49, of Philadelphia, died Monday, October 20, 2014 at Jasper General Hospital in Bay Springs. She was a graduate of Meridian High School where she was selected as a beauty. She was chosen as Meridian’s Junior Miss in 1983 and placed in the Top 10 at the state finals. She was an alumni of Ole Miss where she was an Alpha Tau Omega Little Sister and a Meridian Community College alumni where she was a member of the Lamp-Lighters. She was active in Meridian Little Theatre and played the starring role as Frenchy in the play “Grease.” Ms. Posey practiced as a registered nurse for 26 years and was a certified Diabetic Foot Nurse, BLS/ACLS certified. She was awarded by the MS Association for Home Care the “J.T. Gilbert Clinical Award” in 2004 for Home Health Practitioner of the Year for Mississippi. Ms. Posey was a member of First Baptist Church of Philadelphia. Survivors include her parents, Kenneth and Pat Posey of Philadelphia; brother, Ty Posey and wife, Micki and children, Audrey and Sydney of Hattiesburg; sisters, Jil Montgomery and husband, Donnie and children, Skyler and Halle of Philadelphia and Capri Brooks and husband, Jason and child, Posey of Mandeville, LA. Honorary pallbearers will be Pro Care Home Health employees of Bay Springs, MS, Jeff and Scott McNair and First Baptist Church Singles II Sunday School class. The family requests memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or First Baptist Church of Philadelphia.
