MIKE SKINNER Lavennie Rushing Jolly, 83, of Union, passed away on Sunday, October 12, 2014 at Neshoba General Hospital. Mrs. Jolly, born May 10, 1931, was the daughter of Irvin Almond Rushing and Sarah Penettie Smith Rushing of Philadelphia. Mrs. Lavennie attended Zepher Hill High School where she graduated valedictorian. She retired from General Electric Co. in Jackson. As a homemaker, she exceeded in sewing and cooking. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, nurturing her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Jolly extended her love and family to many; teaching Sunday school, church training and by caring for children in her home. She was a member of Linwood Baptist Church and a former member of McLaurin Heights Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her daughter, LaQuita Speer and her grandson, Joshua Speer; her parents, Irvin Almond Rushing and Sarah Penettie Smith Rushing; her sisters, Beatrice Hall, Clydie Mae Savell, Georgia Belk, Virginia Conn; her brothers, R.B. Rushing, A.V. Rushing and O.C. Rushing. Survivors include her husband, Billy Thomas Jolly of Union; daughter, Cynthia Alford (Gerry) of Bolivar, TN; daughter and granddaughter, Candice Gore (Mark) of Union; sons, Thomas Jolly (Sandy) and Randy Jolly (Becky), all of Vicksburg; nine grandchildren, Rebekah Grider (Adam) of Murfreesboro, TN, Stephanie Alford and Samuel Alford (Jennifer), all of Woodbury, TN, Christopher Alford of Murfreesboro, TN, Shane Jolly of Saucier, Jennifer Sparks (Greg) of Vicksburg, Amanda Vibelius of Tsale, AZ, Sara Jones (Gabriel) of Houston, TX, Leigh Heigle (Steven) of Vicksburg; sixteen great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Ciezkowski, Madison Ciezkowski, Zachary Alford, Caleb Sparks, Lane Sparks, Gwen Fredericksen, Wyatt Gore, Weston Gore, Waverleigh Gore, Wysteria Gore, Brittney Gore, Shelby Gore, Brandon Merritt, Hunter Merritt, Ty Heigle and Madeline Jones. Pallbearers were Samuel Alford, Shane Jolly, Jerry Barnes, Carl Mason, Alan Spears, Ken Spears and Dewayne Nicholson. Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice or the American Heart Association.
