BERT PITTSTravis Louvoun Tolbert age 79 of Philadelphia passed away Monday October 6, 2014 at his home. He was born on May 3, 1935 to Roger and Luciel Tolbert in Philadelphia, MS. To most he was just Jack, a fun loving, hardworking man. His life was sprinkled with tragedy in the death of his father at an early age, a brother at 13, a sister at 15, a son at 19, a fiancé, and two grandchildren, but those although painful and harsh were never allowed to define the man he was. He was a man of few words but chose to be a good listener. Jack never made excuses for his faults or failures, never leaned on life’s harsh reality as a crutch. Instead he chose to use the experiences of life to make him better. Jack loved to sing, whistle and yodel. He enjoyed spending time especially with the grandchildren at the “Ponderosa” and always made time for game of dominoes. He and Betty married in 1986 and like bookends, together they held two families together. We thank God for the wonderful memories we have of the gentle giant of a man that will sustain in the days to come. He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepfather, Joe Boswell; 3 children, Gene Tolbert, Renee Mott Winans, and Ronald Richard Mott; siblings, Lamar, Lillian and Lane Tolbert; two grandsons, Michael Killingsworth and Jason Pitts. He is survived by his wife of 28 years Betty Jean Tolbert; 6 children Dale Tolbert and his wife La, Tammy Tolbert Martin, Robert Keith Mott, Phyllis Pitts and her husband Bert, Tammy Killingsworth and her husband Rock, and Belinda Gray and husband Travis.
