BILLY JAMES  Mr. Mowdy, 77, of Philadelphia, died Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at Neshoba County Nursing Home. He was a native of Neshoba County and lived in Newton County for several years before moving back to Neshoba County.  He was retired from the Mississippi Department of Transportation.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.  Mr. Mowdy was a member of Bethsaida Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Survivors include his daughter, Cindy Giles of Philadelphia; sons, Mark Mowdy (Karen) of McCall Creek, Tim Mowdy (Gina) of Newton and Brian Mowdy (Bridgett) of Philadelphia; grandchildren, Jared Mowdy (Mallory), Jessica Shows (Joseph), Joanna Pierce (Justin), Emma Mowdy, Averi Mowdy and Danica Mowdy; great-grandchildren, Carson Mowdy, Garrett Mowdy, Lyla Shows and Slade Shows; sisters, Myrvene Shannon, Christene Winstead and Linda Mowdy, all of Union; and a host of nieces and nephews. Mr. Mowdy was preceded in death by his wife, Jewelia A. Mowdy; son, Hugh F. Mowdy; son-in-law, Larry Giles; parents, Gershon and Annie Mowdy; sister, Martha Jane Mowdy Williams; and brothers, H.M. Mowdy, W.M. Mowdy and Cletus Mowdy.Pallbearers were Jared Mowdy, Joseph Shows, Justin Pierce, Glen Pierce, Robin Williams, Jeff Mayo, Jason Mayo, and Brad Winstead.
