MATTHEW WHITEMr. Sistrunk, 86, of Kenner, LA,  died Friday, May 23, 2014 at the Southeast Louisiana War Veterans Home. He was born June 12, 1927 to Inez and Fred Sistrunk. He was one of seven children. He was a proud WWII veteran. In his younger years, he was a carpenter and brick layer. Later, he retired from the circulation department of the Times-Picayune newspaper. Mr. Sistrunk married Mable Breland on July 5, 1947 and they had four children. Mr. Sistrunk is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Mable Sistrunk; his parents, Inez and Fred Sistrunk; two sisters, Jean Nazary and Dean Langston. Survivors include two daughters, Doris Humble (Jerry) and Jo Nauta; two sons, Glen Sistrunk (Janice) and Mike Sistrunk (Susan); nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Christine Rushing (Curtis) and Nell Harrell (Jim); two brothers, Clois Sistrunk (Terri) and Frank Sistrunk (Sue); and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to say a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Southeast Louisiana War Veterans Home and Serenity Hospice for the excellent care given to our Dad. Pallbearers were Bill Ladd, Clint Nauta, Devin Nelson, Brad Lindsey, Michael Sistrunk and Jamie Shotts.
