JULIAN DAVISMrs. Wolverton, of Hattiesburg, MS, passed away March 25, 2014.  She was born on April 14, 1929 to Daniel M. and Nettie Carter Bates in Neshoba County, MS.  After college, she worked at Deweese Lumber Company in Philadelphia, MS.  She married Don Wolverton on December 21, 1956.  They made their home in Hattiesburg where Mildred worked for Richton Tie and Timber for 32 years.  She was an active member of the Parkway Heights United Methodist Church in Hattiesburg where she joyfully served with Don in membership and evangelism work area until declining health denied her this source of pleasure. She is survived by her loving husband, Don.  She has four remaining sisters, Mavis Smith of Rogers, AR., Lessie Williamson of Hattiesburg, Dot Winstead (Arlo) and Jane Breland both of Union.  A host of nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends grieve the passing of this wonderful lady who always took interest in their lives and supported their endeavors.  Her love of laughter and her commitment to her family are legacies she leaves those who love her. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Francis M. Bates; two-half brothers, Dovie and Virgil Bates and three half-sisters, Lonie White, Alvie Bates and Iris Sharp. The family would like to thank special family members for their dedication and thoughtfulness during the time Mildred spent in Union and the doctors and staff at J.G. Alexander Nursing Center, Laird Hospital and Rush Foundation Hospital who cared for her professionally.In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to ParkwayHeights United Methodist Church Building Fund.
